PITCHAfrica has launched a new school initiative in Kenya that could not only collect and filter up to 350,000 liters of water per year, but consequently will allow girls in Kenya (whose job it would normally be to collect this water) the chance to attend school and receive an education. Spin Magazine's Top 50 Albums of 2012
Among the top 2 happen to be my favorite 2 albums of the year (although I think their respective orders may be debatable). Spin does, however, lose some credibility and taste (in my eyes, at least) by not only placing Future in a greater ranking than Action Bronson, but by placing Future on this list...at all. But hey, maybe it's just me. Check it below.

Alright, dear friends. We all know it's that time of year again. The time for giving, rejoicing in the company of your family, but more importantly than all of that bullshit, all of the year's "best of" book lists are coming out!!
So I'll present to you Slate's top ten first, and you can be expecting plenty more where that came from. Remember, don't just look at the lists, try readin' 'em! Click HERE for the list.

The Universal Arts of Graphic Design
(via PBS Off Book)
"Good graphic design makes people's lives better."
Just recently I stumbled across a web series from PBS called "Off Book". It pretty much focuses on all aspects of art and media culture. Now, I've always had a soft spot for PBS and WHYY (ever since my young days of watching shows like Arthur and Reading Rainbow); so, naturally, my interest was piqued.
The latest episode, entitled "The Universal Arts of Graphic Design", is roughly 6.5 minutes of several people involved intimately in the world of graphic design explaining how important it is to, pretty much, all parts of life. Of course I know what graphic design is, and I know some people who do it, but I must confess that I have never thought of it in such a way as explored in this video. Simple, yet poignant. "Graphic design is about using words and images to convey a message." The message can't always be "spelled out" for you. It's about getting a person, customer, consumer to think or feel a certain way based on what has physically been presented to them. Graphic designers need to know that specific colors on specific packaging can prompt more women to purchase an item than men. We utilize graphic design in every single branch of our lives. And I don't think we realize how large a part it plays in some of our most commonplace, habitual activities.
Not sure what the hell I'm talking about? Watch the vid. :)

QUOTE: From Jean-Paul Satre
"He was free, free in every way, free to behave like a fool or a machine, free to accept, free to refuse, free to equivocate; to marry, to give up the game, to drag this death weight about with him for years to come. He could do what he liked, no one had the right to advise him, there would be for him no Good or Evil unless he thought them into being."
