ReplyDeleteSure the substance may change the person, but the substance isn't the source that is making possibly making profound art.
Is an artist with chemical imbalances of the brain any less of an artist? Besides the fact that chemical imbalance is essentially what drugs do to you; lots of people with issues of the mind resort to substance abuse.
A lot of critics think Coltrane's stuff was better when he was fucked up. But of course he did make A Love Supreme when he was sober .
